Ok, so I had to take some time off from working on my rebrand and post this photography. These photos are absolutely incredible. I dare say better than real-life, though I’m sure if you asked this photographer, he’d disagree after being there. But what composition. What color. What texture. This guy has a great eye.

Incredible Dying Art Form of Hand Painted Billboards

This is an incredible film about an incredible art form that has slowly been dying and now only exists in cities like L.A. & NYC. I remember seeing these in NYC and wondering how they were done. Block Printing with Dailey Crafton

Dailey Crafton is a good friend of mine that now lives in Brooklyn, NY. He’s an awesome graphic designer and recently was featured in this very cool how-to video on how to create block prints. Babies on the Brain

So with Michelle having 18 out of 40 weeks accomplished in her pregnancy, babies are finding themselves on our brain more frequently. I find myself ready baby blogs more than design blogs and thinking up cool ways to decorate our nursery. Michelle is finally beginning to show and we’ve talked about taking photos of her growing belly. At first I thought this was a little cheesy until I saw what photographer, Ryan Marshall has done. This is just the coolest idea. Every week he takes shots of his wife and writes a note about what has happened that week. What a great memory! I think I may have to steal this idea. And on a personal note, I think it’s very cool to see a dad’s love for his unborn so transparent. We need more dads like this. Here’s a few of his shots. Be sure to read the captions as well!

Jessica Hische is not only an incredible designer, but incredible with type, and not only is she incredible with type, she’s an incredible illustrator. Anytime you start feeling like you’re something special or start becoming a prima donna, take a look at artists like her. Then you’ll realize you’ve got a long way to go. But she has been doing a type project since September of 09 where she creates a new drop cap every day. And they’re all uniquely different and equally beautiful. Five stars says me.

My Valentine

Look what my beautiful and very talented wife made me for Valentine’s Day this year! This is a lino cut she made for me after watching me make one. First off, I have to give her props for being able to remember all the steps. And for her creativity. I love the design of the tree and the heart with our initials was such a creative touch. I was definitely blown away when I opened this.

Sherlock Holmes ending sequence

It has become a Suarez tradition to see a movie Christmas day. This year we were pleasantly surprised to see the very well crafted Sherlock Holmes. I’m glad it turned out well seeing that they spent an enormous amount of money on the advertising. When we were in NYC there were posters everywhere and even ads painted on the sides of brick buildings. Anyway, the movie was enjoyable but I was caught off guard by the incredible ending sequence. A mixture of watercolor, ink, pencil and live action created the visual feast that was the ending credits. They’ve finally shown up on the YouTubes and apparently they’re done by the same company that did the also phenomenal ending credits sequence to Iron Man. Glad to see this type of art is still making its way into movies. Taking the time and money to create creative beginning/ending sequences always add such a nice touch to movies but are so seldomly used.

My mind just got blown!

Daniel Egneus is a fantastic artist I just discovered thanks to the Koelle’s blog. Absolutely incredible. Every hue of color, line or ink blot is perfectly executed and necessary. I thought I’ve seen everything, but this guy has a grasp on white space and composition that I could never imagine. Good job Daniel!
