Introducing my new print, Lemons. I used photos I took while in New York at a really awesome diner on the corner of Broadway and Bleecker. For some reason I kept thinking of old 1950’s technicolor movies. Like Alfred Hitchcock, Audrey Hepburn or even POP artist, Andy Warhol. This print is 8×10. Yes, I know, conventional size. But I want it to be easy to frame. Purchase it at my etsy store for only $25!

    Renegade Review

    Posted in: News

So while in Brooklyn we visited the Renegade Craft Fair. Very cool and very overwhelming. We came away with quite a haul. And left with a lot less money than we came with. But it was worth the finds. I was able to meet one of my favorite artists Dolan Geiman and his fiance Ali. They were very nice and I think I may have convinced them to come to Artisphere next year. Greenville desperately needs some real art at Artisphere instead of the overpriced Garden Ridge art that they currently offer. Here’s a few pics of the noteworthy booths we found.

    New York

So we just got back from New York and had a great time! Very exhausted though. It was Michelle’s first time there so we did the tourist thing as well as hit some very local spots. Michelle’s sis Erica lives in the East Village so we spent most of our time around there. We also ran into Jermaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords there. He had his baby strapped to him and was with his wife. We went up to him to take a pic but opted on just saying hi. We wanted to respect his privacy.

We also visited Dailey and Michelle Crafton in Brooklyn during the Renegade craft fair, which was quite overwhelming. So much good art. We came away with a haul and a lot less cash but we had a blast. I took some photos of some booths that I thought were especially noteworthy.

I’m working on building a new site called Indie SC. It’s a collaboration between me and Teresa Roche from Art & Light. Basically it’s a design blog that features the art and artists of South Carolina. It’s in the process of building and testing so be looking for it soon! And if you’re an artist and would like to be featured, email me at marco@indiesc.com.

    First Friday’s

    Posted in: News

I’ve had the great opportunity to redesign the logo and brochure for First Friday’s in Greenville, SC. If you’re not familiar with First Friday’s, it’s the art gallery crawl that happens the first friday of every month. All the galleries in downtown Greenville are open from 6-9pm and most have wine and snacks. It’s a great way to be a part of the Greenville community. Here’s a sample of the logo and brochure I did.

“Spring” is a new print of mine that is the first of a 4 part series. For each season, I’ll be taking a bird and a bunch of words that represent that season and assembling them into a word picture.

Growing up, we always knew spring was coming when the blue birds began showing up and making nests. My parents had tons of bird houses especially for blue birds. I also picked words that are, to me, synonymous with spring.

This print will be sold exclusively through the Art&Light Gallery. It will be sold no where else except there. It will also be my cheapest print sold for $25. This weekend is First Fridays so come out to Pendleton Street and view some awesome art, drink some wine and pick up your “Spring” print.
